Paint A Picture

I wish I could paint a picture. Assemble the lines and shapes and colors of the world to create something magical. I wish I could create movement and flow and abstraction on a canvas. Something so beautiful that the brush strokes alone would instantly form a window into my mind. I wish I could mix paints, pastels, oils, crayons, markers and chalks to make colors so beautiful and vibrant that one would almost taste them. I wish I could paint a picture of the world; a view of it from my eyes. It would bring about an understanding and the world would be that much simpler, even if just for an instant. I wish I could paint that picture; that beautiful, captivating, emotional picture and bring it forth. No words would be needed, for the thousands of phrases evoked by the sentiment in my artwork would be enough. My creation, my emotion, me. It would act as a mirror image of my heart and my soul. It would show what one can only see through a reflection. That new perspective. It wold raise questions, make statements, reveal answers. It would blow you away and pull you back again. It would make you feel and think again. It would stop time and hold it there forever.

Write A Song

I wish I could write a song. To pour my heart out in musicality and have the words rhyme so perfectly. To share my soul in cadence. I wish I could put together chords, have them sing a song on their own; a harmony to my own melody, a symphony that could tell all from the first gentle plucks of the strings to the last resounding note. I wish I could pour my heart into minors, majors and flats. I wish I could play for hours just to have the world begin to understand. I wish I could encase these feelings in the timelessness and bliss that is music, the endless possibilities that musical creativity presents. I wish I could exchange these mere words for octaves and half tones. "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" It is the very illustration of why words are not enough. But the sound of two hands clapping is the beginning of something wonderful: a beat, a tempo, a heart, a mind, a song. I wish I could write a song. A beautiful, perfect song that I wouldn't have to speak. As I sang the words and formed the tune, You'd know instantly.
